Missile silo, site and launcher numbers unknown. Probable construction photo believed to be Beale 851-A and taken below the launcher elevator motor platform and showing an unknown AMF engineer inspecting one of the counterweight locking mechanisms. Behind him, one of the stub rail latches can be seen. The stub rail latches were an extension of the counterweight guide rails and were the parking place for the counterweights when the silo was in the hard condition. The locking assemblies held the counterweights in place upon the stub rails. Taken: circa 1961 Source: Martin Co.
