Machine State continues on into drone territory with tracks that are less tangible than previous albums.  Even I find it difficult to pull specific meaning or impressions from this latest batch.  It is the often cold unfeeling hum of machines that allows my mind to clear and either focus on something else or become completely unfocused and enter a trance-like state.

At times there is elation and later a feeling of danger, but mostly there is a sense of traveling-- both physically through space and through time.  Given the correct listening environment, say a dark room without distractions, one may feel a bit disoriented as though they are under the influence (just slightly) of something and with eyes closed may even perceive motion.

There is almost nothing organic about this album, but if you strain your ears you might just perceive some fleeting shreds of humanity though nearly unrecognizable.

The title is to suggest the increasing prevalence of computing machines and our reliance on them.  We are being enveloped in a womb of technology.  Have you ever been without your computer or internet connection and felt a terrible sense of loss or you cannot think of anything to fill the time without it?  We want to return to the womb because we feel lost and exposed without it after being there for so long.  Perhaps one day we will forget there was ever anything else.

Computers both enhance and diminish us simultaneously.

This is the Machine State.

We exist within the Machine State.

We are the Machine State.
